There are many birds here that you don't see at home. If you are lucky then you can glimpse a sight of an eagle soaring in the sky over the Orba hills. Whopoo's are often seen, with their striking black and white stripes, flying over the garden. We have a family of red legged partridges that come and drink water from the saucers under the potted flowers! We do have many cuckoo's in March which are now becoming rarer to hear in England. I think they prefer the weather here!!
In the evening, when the sun goes down, you can smell the aroma of the white jasmine and also rosemary which grows wild on the hills beyond the garden. Sometimes you can see small gecko's at night time climbing up the walls of the Villa towards the lights to catch the moths for their supper. It is so quiet here in the evenings, in fact most nights all you can hear are the crickets chirping away in the garden.
